Why it's ok not to be ok...

Recently I have been feeling a bit 'overwhelmed' with life... and I know that it is going to get harder as I grow up. I worry about things A LOT and I can get easily stressed, so sometimes I need to take a step back and 'get my life back on track'. Most of you, if not all of you reading this, will have some sort of worry at the moment, if you don't then that is fine as well!

I am in my last year of school and in September I will (hopefully) be going to Uni to study advertising and marketing. This is all new to me and at the moment I don't know how I feel about this big change, but what I do know is that I am going to be ok, and in a few months time after I start Uni, I'll be questioning why I worried so much!

If you are worried, stressed, upset, confused about absolutely anything, just remember that you are only human and "If it's not ok, then it's not the end". Life is an amazing thing but sometimes it can get a bit much... take a step back, weigh out the positives and negatives and find the thing that is making you feel a certain way. Once you find the problem, then you can begin to solve it... which I know sounds easier said then done... BUT it is doable <3

I highly recommend talking to someone about how you are feeling, whether that's someone in your family, a friend you can trust, a teacher, colleague... ANY ONE! Opening up about how you feel does help... even if you find it hard to open up completely, maybe try to just tell someone that you are feeling a certain way, just so they know and they can be there for you. The last thing you want (well the last thing I want) is to feel alone and isolated! However, sometimes the solution to your problems, is to be alone and have some 'me time'... this gives you time to think for yourself and to be able to get yourself back on track.

We unfortunately need to go through s*** in our lives, in order to be prepared for the future. One thing I will always remember when watching one of Zoe Sugg's videos, ( is when she was talking about her anxiety, she mentioned; whenever she was feeling panicky or anxious, she would say to herself, "It's ok that I am feeling like this." ... this made me realise that it was ok not to be ok and I was obviously feeling a certain way because this is how my mind and body wanted to react.

We have to listen to ourselves and pride ourselves over other people sometimes. You are not weak because you are having panic attacks, or you are self harming etc ... this is a sign that you have been strong for too long, without a break! "Crying doesn't indicate that you're weak. Since birth, it has always been a sign that you're alive." In the words of one of my bestest/strongest/kindest/loveliest friends (You know who you are) Life goes on.... You can either sit back and not enjoy it, while it goes on without you, or you can pick yourself up and enjoy life <3

Let yourself be happy, don't put yourself through more stress and sadness, you don't deserve it. You need to remember and understand that we are all human and you are not perfect.... no one is.... there is no such thing as perfection. (Yes, I know that probably makes me sound realllyyyy hypocritical because of my blog name but no one is perfect... even petals haha) What even is the true definition of perfection?! No one knows....

All I really want to say is... remember that you are not alone and positive times are coming, even on your cloudiest days <3

"Don't cloud your mind with negativity - with positivity comes sunshine!"

"Don't worry about the future, be excited!"

"The first and most important person you must believe in is yourself!"

"Sometimes good things fall apart, so better things can fall together!"

"If you can dream it, you can do it!"

I love every single one of you reading this... you are all lovely, kind, strong people and you all make me so happy <3

I also wrote a post about exam stress last year... I hope that this can help some of you.... also leave comments below to help each other/anyone reading this post... share it and remember that it's ok not to be ok <3

Guest Post || The Chill Blog: Benefit Roller Lash Review

Hi everyone, it's Sophie here... as I have been really busy at the moment, I haven't had time to write any posts, so I thought that this would be the perfect time to put up some guest posts instead... that way, you're still getting a post from me (sort of)! I hope that this is ok?! I should be able to post normally again next week... so let me know in the comments, or on Twitter (@petalsofperfect) what sort of posts you would like to see!

*Thank you to Tiffany for doing this post last minute for me! You all need to go and give her a follow on twitter and bloglovin and tweet her saying "We love your guest post on Petals Of Perfection!" ;)

Now onto the guest post:

Hello guys! I am very excited to have had the opportunity to guest post today! My name is Tiffany and I run The Chill Blog, located at I post on Sundays and Thursdays, and I hope to see some of you guys there! I post about beauty, and lifestyle stuff so if you're into that, you should check it out!

Now onto my review of this mascara! This was one of the most highly anticipated beauty products of this year. I know I couldn't go anywhere without seeing an ad for this mascara there. And since it's release on February 27th, it's been a hot topic for beauty personas far and wide. But was it worth the hype? Well, let's see!

The tube, as shown above, is actually very user friendly. The top part is made of a rubbery substance, which makes holding it very easy. I don't slip my grip while I am putting this on.

This is the applicator. When I first bought this mascara, I'll admit I was a bit underwhelmed with it. For a mascara that advertised a nice curl, I will say that I would have expected a more curled applicator. Not to say it isn't a good applicator, it just wasn't what I was expecting.

So the day I bought this, of course, I dedicated myself to playing with it. For me, personally, this was not everything I had been hoping for in a mascara. It's a great mascara, don't get me wrong. It's amazing at separating each individual lash for a false lash look. It also, like the They're Real mascara by Benefit, acts almost waterproof. It gives a nice overall look to any makeup look you maybe trying to achieve. But, this was a mascara that advertised a curl. And I did not notice a good curl. Here's a picture with me wearing it, just so that you can decide for yourself if you like it or not.

This mascara does have a curl to it, but it's not something I couldn't have gotten from a drugstore mascara. Oh my goodness, I am trying to come up with another way of saying that without coming off so rude, but I really cannot explain it any other way! Like this mascara is a good mascara, but if you are trying to decide between this one, and a cheaper drugstore one like the Lash Sensational by Maybelline, I would save some money and go for the cheaper one.

If you are a diehard Benefit lover, and want to collect all of the mascaras they produce, by all means, don't let me discourage that. But if you are someone that's just looking for a solid mascara and you are considering this one, then you might or might not like this one. I personally use this for days where I don't wear too much makeup. It has a great natural look and it is super light on the lashes, so you won't have to worry about tired eyes due to mascara.

Overall, it's a good mascara, but not as great as the hype surrounding it. It's a good mascara to wear minimally, or for lashes that are defined and separated. But for a volumized look, and/or a a curled look, probably not so much.

Thank you guys so much for reading this! I hope you enjoyed this and I hope this might have been helpful for anyone that's maybe considering this mascara, or is just curious about it. Again, I am over at I hope you guys can check it out! And thanks so much to the lovely Sophie for letting me guest post for the day!

Question of the post! If you have used this mascara, what are your thoughts? Am I way off? Do you agree with me? Make sure to leave your thoughts in the comment section :)

Guest Post || Perfect Peonies: What's in my bag?!

Hello, my name is Nicola and I write the beauty blog Perfect Peonies. I am really excited to be guest posting today on Petals of Perfection. Before I dive in I thought I would let you all know a little about me. I am originally from London but moved to Washington DC almost two years ago now. I am a complete beauty nut and love nothing more than wondering around Sephora or MAC. My main goal with Perfect Peonies is to make it a place where everyone can share and learn about beauty. I hope you enjoy this post and after head on over to and have a read. Love Nicola.

So when it came to thinking about what I wanted to write about today I was little stumped. I was sat there staring at my pretty new bag and thought why not talk about what I keep in my bag. I used to carry a super huge bag but when I was gifted this Rebecca Minkoff beauty I down sized. It is tricky to keep to many things in there so things don’t tend to get too cluttered. One thing that is missing is my keys because there sitting on my hall table.

So let’s see what’s in there...

Kate Spade Cara Purse- Obviously this is where I keep my cash, cards, ID, ect but it’s just so pretty. Kate Spade purses are normally quite pricey but I found this on sale in December and it was a steal! The rose gold colour is beautiful and I always love pulling it out of my bag. A great thing to mention also is it is quite small so it fits in small bags like this one.

Multiple Lip Products- Yes I have three lip products in my bag… Is that too much? Probably. They just seem breed in there. I always have a balm in case my lips get dry. Today I have the Korres Lip Balm, it’s a lip balm that is ok nothing to really write home about. I also have the Chanel Rouge Allure Lip Gloss in shade 15, I really love these lip glosses they really are worth their hefty price tag, non-sticky and long lasting. I also have a red lip stick just in case I ever want to chuck on a bold lip, I really love the L’Oreal Blake Livley red but this Nars Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella is very convenient to apply on the go.

Hand Sanitiser- I always keep a small bottle on me for when my hands feel a little grubby, this one from Bath and Body Works smells very nice.

Hand Cream- My hands get seriously dry especially in the winter so I always like to carry a hand cream with me. Today I have the L’occitane Honey Hand Cream.

Bose Headphones- I always keep my headphones with me in case I get stuck somewhere or I’m bored and want to listen to music or watch Netflix. There is nothing worse than being stuck on the train and having nothing to do.

IPhone- And of course my phone, because I can’t live without it for more than like an hour. Also so you guys can tweet me. My phone case is a Kate Spade leather case in the colour snapdragon.
Head on over to Perfect Peonies now to see more posts like this.

Love Nicola

February Favourites 2015!

I cannot believe that it is the beginning of March already! This year is already flying by ahhhh.....
I thought it would be a nice idea to do a favourites post! I love reading these kinds of posts... I always like to see what people have been loving, I find so many new things to try out for myself <3 I hope you like this post, equally as much as I do :) (*Sorry for the bad lighting ... the sun was not cooperating with me today... but at least there is sun! GOODBYE WINTER!)

       Make Up:

Max Factor Colour Adapting Foundation (40 Creamy Ivory)

I don't know why I didn't purchase this foundation sooner... it is absolutely amazing!
The constancy is so smooth and silky.... when you first put it on, it feels quite thick and almost mousse like, but when you start to work it into the skin, it goes sort of powdery and matte. It looks like a powder foundation on the skin but it is so light, it feels like you just have an extra layer of flawless skin!

Rimmel London Lipstick 'Asia' (007)

I have been in love with this lipstick! I initially went out to buy the Kate Moss (003) but I couldn't find it in the shop that I went to, so I picked up this shade instead. This shade looks quite dark, however when you put it on your lips, it looks more nude. I would say, it is a nude with a slight colour... you can alter the amount you apply, to make it more nude or more colourful... it's a very versatile lipstick :)

Urban Decay Naked3 Palette (surprise surprise)

I couldn't NOT include the Urban Decay Naked3 palette. I think I've mentioned it in every post since I got it (Sorry not sorry)! You cannot go wrong with any Naked palette! I just love everything about it! If you want to know more about it then check out this post!

Maybelline 24Hr Colour Tattoo (On and On Bronze)

I've wanted one of these colour tattoos for ages... so I finally caved in and got one... I do not regret it one little bit! I love using this as a base for eyeshadow and I also like to put a little bit the outer corner of my eyelid and then I blend it through the crease! It's great for everyday wear, if you want something quick to chuck on your eyes... you can wear it with or without eyeshadow!

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara

After hearing Gabriella Lindley rave about this new mascara, I knew I had to try it! I am not usually a fan of plastic mascara wands, however this one is so good! It is curved so you can coat every single eyelash in one go! It lengthens the lashes and gives them a bit more volume... this is a great mascara for someone who is just starting out in make up <3

Calvin Klein 'One Summer'

The sun has finally decided to make an appearance in our skies and I feel as summery as ever! I thought this would be the perfect time to whack out the Calvin Klein 'One Summer' fragrance. I think this is a unisex fragrance... but it really does smell amazing! I'm not a fan of sickly sweet, floral scents, I prefer musky/fresh scents... so this is a winner for me! It literally is summer in a bottle <3

Fleur De Force 'The Glam Guide'

Sooo many YouTubers are bringing out books at the moment and I am not ashamed to say that I am going to get all of them! I have already read Girl Online and I completely fell in love with it! I've also got The Pointless Book and Love Tanya... I cannot wait for Girl Online 2 to come out in November, and The Pointless Book 2... not forgetting Joe's graphic novel and Carrie Hope Fletchers 'All I know Now'..... gahhhh the list goes on!

But at the moment, I have been loving Fleur De Force's 'The Glam Guide'! There is everything you will ever need to know in this book... from beauty to blogging to confidence etccc.... it's lovely to sit down and flick through this when you're feeling a bit 'lost' in the blogging world... I've found that it has helped me build confidence and also inspire me to write posts! Every human on this planet, needs this book!

Joe Sugg (LA Vlogs)
I have always and will always be obsessed with Joe! I could sit all day, just watching him (That didn't mean to sound so creepy haha) ... just his presence... him... makes me happy! Whenever I feel sad, stressed, panicky etc... I ALWAYS watch his videos... they instantly make me forget about all my worries and they cheer me up instantly! <3 At the moment, I have been loving his LA vlogs! He has been there for nearly a month now.... (COME HOME JOE... STOP EXTENDING YOUR TRIP)... but everyday, he has been vlogging (even though, he is NOT A DAILY VLOGGER ;) ), I've just loved watching him venture around LA!

Hobbie Stuart (Brazil Vlogs/Covers/Music)
Now onto Hobbie.... Where do I start! PERFECTION! I've been watching him for some time now, but it's only been recently that I have been watching his videos religiously and falling madly in love with him haha! I have woken up twice this week, to messages from him on Twitter and I am still dying! I particularly like his Brazil vlogs... it's so nice seeing him with all of his family and seeing him 'at home' and happy :) I highly recommend that you watch these vlogs... just do it... and thank me later ;) ALSO his covers are the perfect soundtrack for a chilled day <3 How can someone be so perfect?!

James Bay
James Bay... James Bay... James Bay... JAMES BAY! Enough said really! Hannah (Maggs) and Stef have put James' music in their vlogs for (I think) the past year now, and I always loved the music then, but it's only recently where people have heard of James and he's been on the radio/music channels etc! Not forgetting that he won the BRITs Critics Choice Award last week! His music is great to listen to when you are feeling stressed! As soon as I put it on, my mind clears and my worries go and I am able to focus on my work! If you haven't listened to him then ... WHY NOT?! Go and listen now!

And that is it for my February Favourites! I hope you liked this kind of post?!

Let me know in the comments what your February Favourites were... I'd love to hear them <3
