BRITs 2015: Madonna, Ravishing Red Carpet & The Winners!

The BRITs have to be my favourite awards to watch! Every year, I look forward to snuggling up on the sofa and watching it Live, whilst my Twitter timeline goes crazy... and this year certainly didn't disappoint (No capes. Enough said)!

I love the awards so much, that I thought it would be a nice idea to do a little post on it :)
I am going to share my favourite parts of the whole event, my favourite red carpet outfits and who the winners were ... (this could get very controversial haha)!

Can we just take a moment to appreciate how pretty the actual award is this year! Tracey Emin, you did good!

My favourite part of the BRITs (other than the actual awards) is the red carpet! I watched the red carpet on ITV2, presented by the stunning Laura Whitmore. They didn't show everyone but my favourites from who they did show, were definitely; Cara Delevingne, Ellie Goulding, Michelle Keegan, Fearne Cotton and Paloma Faith!

I loved Cara's indie/unique style and I love the fact she didn't follow the crowd and wear a dress... it's nice to have a bit of variety! (All of her outfit was from Saint Laurent). If you follow me on Twitter (@petalsofperfect), you would've seen that I was dying over her hair! It looks amazing... I love the colour and the soft waves.... I need mine to look like that!!!!

Ellie looked breathtaking! Her elegant, embroidered dress complemented her body shape perfectly <3 I loved her subtle, peachy lip make up... perfect for a transition from Winter to Spring make up!

Michelle Keegan's make up looked amazing and it went so well with her little black dress! The heavy contour and highlight, smoky eye and the nude pink lip, added that extra depth. Not to mention the pop of colour from the shoulder, strap bag :)

If you have been following my blog for some time, or follow me on Twitter, you may know that I have a major girl crush on Fearne Cotton! I love everything about her and I want to be her! She could wear a bin bag and still look amazing <3 I loved her golden shift dress and the pop of red from her earrings! I've just heard that she is pregnant again, which I am soooo happy about, but she has also announced, after 10 years of working there, she is finally leaving BBC Radio1... excuse me while I cry in the corner :(

I loved Paloma's dress sooo much! I liked the little specks of red and how it created an ombre effect running down the dress. The black netted layer also added shape to the dress without making it look too 'wide'. I also loved how fierce her make up looked... the classic red lip can never go wrong!

Now onto the winners of the awards!

James Bay - Brits Critics' Choice Award
I am OBSESSED with James Bay... thank you Hannah Maggs and Stef Michalak, for putting his music in your vlogs last year and making me fall in love with him <3 He definitely deserved this award!

X Ed Sheeran - British Album of the year
Uptown Funk Bruno Mars/Mark Ronson - Best British Single
Sam Smith - Best British Breakthrough Act
Taylor Swift - best International Female
One Direction You & I - Best British Video
Sam Smith - Global Success Award
Paloma Faith - Best British Female Solo Artist
Ed Sheeran - British Male Solo Artist
Foo Fighters - International Group
Pharrell Williams - International Male Solo Artist
Paul Epworth - Best Producer
Royal Blood - British Group

Did you agree with the winners?! Comment below who you would have wanted to win!

Now onto what seemed to be the main event:

Madonna and Kanye West...
Poor Madonna had been nervous about making her comeback at the BRITs and the pressure was on... however, when it came to her performance... lets just say, she should have listened to Edna... NO CAPES Madonna... NO CAPES! But, well done Madonna for getting back up and continuing on with the amazing performance. I don't think that dancer has his job any more....

And Kanye West... ermmm. *AUDIO MUTED*
If you haven't seen his performance...I highly urge you to go and watch it... it's ... interesting... yeah lets go with interesting.

Couldn't they just mute the whole thing?!

And that's basically the BRITs 2015 summed up in one post!
I hope you liked this kind of post... it's something a bit different!

Did you watch the BRITs?! Did you enjoy it?! What was your favourite part?!

P.s. Make sure you are free tomorrow from 5pm-6pm, because I will be hosting my first ever blog chat #pabchat over on .... we will be talking about blogging tips and tricks, as that seems to be your favourite post of mine :) ... I need moral support... I'm so nervous haha! xxx

Interview with Joie de Jodie

Me and Jodie from decided to do a little collab, to get to know each other and for our followers to get know us more! We have interviewed each other and it was great finding out more about her... she is such a lovely girl, inside and out and her blog is definitely one of my favourites to read! I highly recommend that you all go over to her blog and give her some blogger love <3

Soooo on with the interview:

1. What made you want to start blogging?
I have dipped in and out of trying to start blogs for a number of years, but I never had the confidence to really put myself out there. I have always been a keen writer and loved taking photographs, but adding in my huge love of fashion, beauty and life, it seemed like a match made in heaven! I started my blog in the last few days of 2014, deciding to just “go for it” after building up my confidence over the year, and I did just that!

2. What's your favourite thing to blog about?
I really enjoy writing about skincare, as I have had huge trouble with acne and problem skin in the past. I never really had anywhere or anyone to go to for advice, and had to go through everything alone. I’d really like to share my experience with other people who are struggling with the same problems just as I was, and hopefully help them with product recommendations and tips.

3. What are your holy-grail beauty products?
I use The Body Shop's Tea Tree BB Cream every day as a base as it gives me great coverage without breaking my skin out. I also would not be able to live without my Kate Moss for Rimmel Lipstick in 01, it's the perfect classic red lip for any occasion!

4. Is there any advice you would give to newbie bloggers?
I'd say it's important to write your blog for you, not for anyone else. Create content which you love and are proud of first, and readers will come with that! Don't put too much pressure on yourself because blogging is all about having fun and being creative. If you want to network and make friends with other bloggers, I'd really recommend taking part in twitter chats!

5. How/has blogging changed your life?
Blogging has given me a creative outlet and hobby which is completely my own and separate from other aspects of my life. I love to relax and channel my energy into producing a blog post I'm really proud of. It has given me something to focus on other than schoolwork and revision, which in the past I have been far too obsessed with. Blogging has also given me so much more confidence in myself and who I am as a person, as everyone has been so supportive and I feel very free to be exactly who I am and write about what I enjoy with no limitations.

6. Where do you see yourself in the future?
Blogging-wise, I'd love to grow my following and work with brands I love, as it would be so much fun and give me a fantastic sense of achievement as I have done everything on my own. I'd also like to go to University (hopefully Bath) to study French and International Management, and then ideally more to Paris and live the rest of my life working for a fashion/beauty brand, drinking coffee and eating cakes in cute little patisseries, and travelling the world.

7. What's your best piece of advice?
Focus on positive thoughts – If you are too busy thinking about all of your best qualities, chances are you won’t even remember to think about your insecurities. This works for many things in life too, for example if you are worried before an exam and think you’ll fail, you’ll probably perform worse than if you tell yourself “I can do this” beforehand.

8. What quote/motto do you live by?
Some of my favourite quotes include, "If you have good thoughts, they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely" by Roald Dahl and, "If you really want something, you don't stop for anyone or anything until you get it" by Blair Waldorf (I'm a die-hard Gossip Girl fan).

Thank you for wanting to collab with me Jodie :)
You are such a beautiful girl and you deserve all the follows/love you get <3
I hope we can collab more in the future!

If you enjoyed this collab... there are plenty more to come on Petals Of Perfection :)
Comment below any bloggers you would like me to collab with and I'll try and make it happen <3

'One Lovely Blog' Award

Thank you so much to Bekah from for nominating me for the 'One Lovely Blog Award'... it means so much to me <3 I hadn't heard of this award before, so I did a bit of research and from what I saw, it is very similar to the 'Very Inspiring Blogger Award'... <3

The Rules:
1. Thank and link the person who nominated you.
2. Add the 'One Lovely Blog Award' logo to your post... (I made this one, you can use this or use the actual logo)
3. Share 7 facts about yourself.
4. Nominate 7 bloggers you admire and link them.

So, 7 Things About Me:

1. I am obsessed with cats! I am ready for that lonely life with cats haha! I have two cats called Lottie and Bluebell and I love them sooooo much! They are both cheeky devils but are so adorable at the same time ... they take after me ;)

2. I have a phobia of mannequins... not the ones you see in shops, but ones that are in museums. They look so creepy and I just hate everything about them! I literally cannot look at them, or even be in the same room as them! ... The phobia actually has a name (Automatonophobia) so I can't be the only one with this fear haha! Please let me know if you share this fear as well, so I don't feel as stupid!

3. I have a really bad habit of biting my nails! I really wish I didn't do it and I have tried sooooo hard to stop, a number of times... but I blame it mostly on my parents. It is scientifically proven that if your parents bite their nails, it's more likely for you to also bite your nails... so thanks mum and dad! I'm also a very anxious person so it could be because of that as well! I am going to try and grow them again in the summer and see if I can break the habit!

4. I love Modern Family... who doesn't?! I want my future husband to be like Phil!

5. My favourite website at the moment is Wantfeed ... it was founded by the Vlogger StefMichalak ... it is a great website for making wishlists and to also find new products! It's like Tumblr/Pinterest of the shopping world. I love using it to make wishlists for Christmas/Birthdays etc.... it makes it so much easier when someone asks you what you want, because you can just send them a link of your profile! I am using it at the moment for my 18th birthday wishlist... so if you want a wishlist post/a post about Wantfeed, let me know in the comments below :)

6. All my childhood life, I wanted to be a primary school teacher, but it's only been in the past couple of years where I have changed my mind. As soon as I started my media ALevel, I knew that was the career path I actually wanted to go down! It seems so exciting and there are so many opportunities! I am going to Greenwich University in September to study Advertising and Marketing, as well as doing a one year placement in a media company! This will hopefully prepare me for a successful career in the media industry :)

7. I have a small bucket list and one of the things on it, is to swim with dolphins. I don't really know why I want to do this, I'll probably freak out when I do it haha :)

I nominate:

Thanks Bekah again for the nomination <3

Spring Make Up 2015 ... Collab with Made In Porcelain!

Laida and I, decided to do a collab for Spring Make up, as our looks are very different, therefore you would get two different styles that you can chose from :)
I decided to do more of a natural, everyday to day look :) I searched Instagram and Google Images for hours, looking for the Spring look of 2015... and I found that it was pinky eyes, not a lot of eye-liner, but voluminous lashes and pink/orangey lips :)

To prime and prep my skin, I used the Liz Earle Skin Repair light moisturiser, for combination/oily skin.... as well as, Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream: skin protectant on my lips.

I then used the Rimmel London Match Perfection foundation (101), Rimmel London Match Perfection concealer and Rimmel London Stay Matte Powder (silky beige).

I buffed the foundation in, using a Real Techniques Stippling brush.

To apply the powder, I used a Real Techniques Powder Brush.

I then combed my brows using the Dirty Works Lash and Brow comb, and then filled them in using the a la carte Brow Ink (Blonde). I also slightly contoured, blushed and highlighted using the Collection Shimmer Shades (Way to go) and a Real Techniques Blush Brush.

For the eyes I used the Urban Decay Naked3 Palette. I used Strange as a base, then over the top I put Buzz and then slightly through the crease I put Nooner.

I then tight lined my upper lid using Rimmel London Exaggerate Waterproof eye definer and then I ran some of the Rimmel London Scandaleyes (Nude), along the waterline to make my eyes look bigger :)

Lastly, I applied Make Up Revolution's Amazing Curve mascara to my lashes, and I did a few coats of this to build up my lashes. And to my lips, I used the Bourjois Paris Colour Boost lip crayon (Orange Punch).

I hope you like my Spring make up look for 2015... remember, less is more!

Be sure to check out Laida's spring make up look .... she's done a more dramatic make up look compared to mine, so if that sounds like your sort of look, then have a look at her post :)

*Thank you Laida for wanting to collab with me... I hope we can do more collabs in the future <3

Liked this collab?! I have planned many more collabs, so keep an eye out ;)

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette: Review

I cannot believe I am able to write this blog post! I have waited years (literally, that's not even an exaggeration) to own one of these gorgeous palettes.
WARNING: Be prepared for a ton of photos!

I was in Debenhams with my mum a few weeks ago and we walked past the Urban Decay make up counter. My eyes were fixed on the Naked palettes and I jokingly said, as I always do... "Why don't you treat me to one of them?! ;)" ... my mum hates make up and the thought of spending nearly £40 on eyeshadow is unimaginable for her! BUT... it must have been my lucky day because she FINALLY agreed to get me one! Technically, I paid for half of it and she used a gift card to pay for the rest ... but OH MY GOD... the wait was sooooo worth it! If you can afford to treat yourself to one of these stunning palettes, then definately do! If you would rather not splash the cash, then I would highly recommend the Makeup Revolution palettes, they are great dupes :)

you can obviously also get it from any Urban Decay shop

First of all, can we just appreciate this beautiful packaging... gahhhhh! Everyday I look at it and I clench my fists with happiness and smile like crazy! I have never loved make up so much haha... just look at that rose gold... ROSE GOLD!

Also, in the box you get 4 samples of the Urban Decay primers. I have used these primers everyday... they keep the eyeshadow on for longer and reduce the risk of creasing. I was amazed at how much product you get in these samples! My favourite out of the four, has to be Sin. It has a gorgeous shimmer, which is great for everyday make up, if you want to put something on your lids quickly.

In the palette, you also get a doubled ended eyeshadow brush... I am used to getting the pointless sponge applicators (WHY DO THEY EXIST?! What is their purpose?!) so to get an actual good quality brush, was a nice surprise! The brush is extremely similar to the Real Techniques brushes! One end of the brush is a shading brush and the other end is a crease brush. The bristles are soooo soft and great for blending the eyeshadow.

Now onto the main thing... the eyeshadows!!!!
You get a mixture of matte, pressed shimmer and lose glittery shades.

My favourites are: Strange, Burnout, Buzz, and Mugshot.
Strange is great for a base colour, it completely gets rid of any veins/discolouration and brightens the eyes!
For a more natural look, I would use strange as a base and then blend limit through the crease.

The shimmery shades are beautiful for a more daring everyday look, and brilliant for an evening look! The colours are so buildable and they completely brighten your eyes and complement your eye colour.

The looser glitter shades are also stunning, however in order for them to stay on the lids, without any 'fall down' on to the face, you need to use a primer. I have found that you need to do this the most with Dust, although I'm not surprised because the clue is in the name! :)
For a more daring evening look, I love Blackheart! It is a beautiful, black with hints of a purple undertone, and specks of glitter! This is obviously the most pigmented out of the palette, so when you use it, make sure you tap away any excess before apply on to the lid, otherwise it can get very messy!

Here are swatches of the whole palette! As you can tell, some are more pigmented then others, but I personally like this aspect, because this means there is more range in the palette, allowing you to create several different looks. Even the colours that are not as pigmented, are buildable, so you can always make them more pigmented if you wanted to!

(From top to bottom)
Blackheart: sooty, matte, purple undertone with copper glitters
Darkside: satin plum-taupe
Mugshot: satin taupe
Factory: satin warm brown
Liar: satin pinky-mauve
Nooner: cool matte taupe
Trick: pinky-copper shimmer with microglitters
Buzz: satin rose with tiny microglitters
Limit: pink-tan matte
Burnout: satin pinky-peach
Dust: very shimmery, pale peachy-pink with glitters
Strange: matte beige with slight pink undertone

Overall, this is a great pinky toned palette, which is great for warmer skin tones, however I think it can look flattering on everyone... you just need to find 'your look' :)

I hope you enjoyed my review of the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette :)
If you want to see some make up tutorials using this palette, please let me know in the comments below :)

Q&A: Four, Tips and Nakedness?!

I decided that this week I'd do a Q&A because I have had lots of people asking me things recently, so why not do a post about it!

I love watching Q&As on YouTube because it is such a quick way to learn more about a person. So I hope this post is interesting and enjoyable for you :)

I went over to Twitter (@petalsofperfect) and asked people to send me questions, thank you to everyone who asked me questions, I wouldn't be able to write this post without your help .... Everyone needs to go and check out their blogs/Twitter because they are absolutely amazing and they are lovely people :)

Now onto the Q&A:

My best beauty find of 2015 has to be the Make Up Revolution Iconic 2 palette... I wrote a post about it a couple of weeks ago, if you want to find out more :)
It is an amazing palette and a great dupe to the Urban Decay Naked Palettes!
My favourite pizza topping is not your usual topping but I love grilled artichokes... omg they taste amazing!!!

The best bit of advice I have been given is to keep my design and layout basic. I used to have (sort of still do have) a really messy and jumbled layout and design. The text was unreadable and the background was so busy that it distracted you from the actual blog posts. So, I followed people's advice and changed my layout. I don't think I have been given a bad bit of advice... the blogging community is soooo lovely and I love listening to people's advice! If you want to see my advice on how to design your blog then have a look at this >
If you want more general advice about blogging, have a look at this >

My wardrobe must have, has to be strappy tops! I have tons of these cheap tops from Primark, they're only about £3 and I wear them underneath everything, especially if what I am wearing is see through.
My make up must have is lip balm! I could not live without the stuff! I hate having dry and chapped lips... I am a person who can say, that they have completely finished a lip balm without losing it! (I consider that an achievement haha) My all time favourite lip balm is more of a high end one... the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Care Lip Protectant!

This is such a hard question... HOW DO I CHOSE!?
I used to be obsessed with No Control, then Spaces, then Girl Almighty, but now my current favourite is Clouds! Gahhhh this album is defiantly their best! I cannot wait to see them perform this album live! :)

I don't really know why I chose to be a bblogger over the rest... I think it's because I have an unhealthy obsession with make up and skincare haha! I think the benefits of having a niche, is that people know what to expect from your blog. If they like one of your posts, then it's most likely that they are going to like the rest, therefore they are more likely going to follow your blog... if that makes sense haha! However, it is also very good to have a bit of variety, otherwise you might start to get a bit bored of the same style.

My biggest tip would have to be: Use other platforms effectively! I found that when I created a Twitter account purely for my blog, my audience grew dramatically, and I have made so many online friends because of it! It's also great to join in the different blog chats because you can learn so much from them, it's a great way to gain some market research. I also advise that you make a BlogLovin' account, because it is the most popular/easy way for people to interact with your blog!

Concealer! I need to cover up my imperfections... and believe me, there are a lot of them haha!

MY URBAN DECAY NAKED 3 PALETTE! OH MY GOD! Everyday, I look at this palette and happiness runs through my body! I love it so much! It's so pretty and the colours blend so well and gahjhhhhhdhispfsgfwhbpeihaie! Everyone NEEDS one of these in their lives, you will not regret it!

I started blogging because I really enjoyed ready other blogs, and I became obsessed with the blogging community. I also wanted to find a hobby and have something that I am passionate about, so I thought, why not!? It is the BEST decision I have ever made! :) <3

I don't own many blushers but at the moment I have been loving the Collection Shimmer Shades (Way To Go). It is a stunning palette and soooo cheap (which is a major bonus) :) It is going to look great for spring make up as well.

And that's it! Thanks again for everyone who contributed to this post :)
I hope you found it interesting haha!

Comment below any questions you would like to ask me and I can answer more of them for you :)
