My First ever Giveaway/Review with Scarlet Olive! * (Finished)

I was lucky enough to be contacted by a French jewellery company called Scarlet Olive https://www.scarletolive.com/ a few weeks ago, asking if I would review one of their new necklaces. This is the first ever company to contact me so I jumped at the chance, and I am so glad I did because I can't thank Scarlet Olive enough for the amazing products and great communication. As soon as the parcel arrived, I opened the box and I couldn't believe my eyes! They are the most well made pieces of statement jewellery I have ever seen and so bold and eye catching!

Not only did I get to have a stunning necklace to review but I was also lucky enough to win their giveaway, in which I won this amazing handmade piece of statement jewellery, which can be found here on their website >>> https://www.scarletolive.com/product/bloody-mary/

I decided to pair this piece of statement jewellery with a black, strappy cami top from New Look, and a pair of skinny jeans from H&M. This red necklace added a pop of colour to my outfit and really made me stand out from the crowd! The deep red Swarovski crystals and the gold chain catches the light as you move around, making it look even more glamorous. I would definitely recommend this piece of jewellery if you are after a unique statement necklace!

 Now onto the second necklace...:
What can I say... this is equally an amazing, bold necklace that isn't for the faint hearted! I love the colours that have been used on this necklace and the little intricate details. I'm not sure if this necklace is being sold yet, but I am guessing that it will be around £80-£120 range, judging by existing necklaces.

The only negative thing I will say about this necklace is, personally I think the flowers are a bit too much, but that is just my personal opinion. Other than that, I love this necklace and I think it would make any boring outfit look great! It's most certainly sparkly, I don't think you can argue with me there haha!

I decided to pair this necklace with a plain, cream blouse and skinny jeans. This made my outfit go from casual to casual/dressy just by adding this piece of jewellery. I think this proves that a necklace (especially this one) can make an outfit look 100x better! When I first saw these necklaces I thought that they were going to be extremely heavy, but surprisingly they aren't unbearably heavy to wear, and sit on your chest and around your neck comfortably.

Scarlet Olive have also kindly given me the permission to hold my first ever giveaway with one of the blue floral necklaces!

A-Z on Make Up Tips

- It is important to not apply too much product on to your skin as it can look 'cakey' and also build up in the creases in your face.

Blend- In order for your make up to look flawless, it is important to blend, this way the foundation will be worked into your skin, rather than sitting on the top of it. You also need to blend your eyeshadow and powders, to create a more gradient look, rather then a patchy look.

Contour- Contouring allows you to shape your face better and also make your face look skinnier if you want to.

Define/detail- You need to take care of every detail to make your make up look flawless. Make sure you're using the right shade of make up/ the right brushes etc.

Eyes- Your eyes are going to be the first thing that people look at, so make sure you extenuate your glistening eyes. Wear the right shade to bring out the colour in your eyes.

Foundation- Don't overdo the foundation.. it can literally look like you've shoved your face in paint! Also ensure that you are wearing the correct shade for your skin... ask someone on a make up counter if you are unsure, or swatch it before you buy it.

Groom- Groom and maintain your eyebrows... they are sooo important because they frame your face, so do not forget about them!

Highlight- Use highlight at the top of your cheekbones to extenuate them when they catch the light.

Individuality- Be unique, experiment, don't follow the crowd! You can do what you want with your make up, it's supposed to be fun not a chore. Or just don't wear make up at all if you feel like you don't 'need' it.

Jewellery- You can also wear jewellery to compliment your make up.

Keep- Maintain your make up throughout the day... carry the 'essentials' around with you, e.g. lip balm, mascara, oil blotting sheets & powder.

Lips- Use lip scrubs and lip balm to stop chapped lips and to keep them hydrated.

Money- Don't feel the need to spend ridiculous amounts of money on make up, just because it is a 'high-end' brand. You can get great high-end 'dupes' in the shops for less then half the price, e.g. Urban Decay Naked Palettes < MUA Undressed Palette.

Nails- I'm not one to speak about nails as I am unfortunately a nail biter and I can't seem to stop! I have tried everything, but I think it's passed down onto me as both of my parents bite their nails, it is also because of stress (I am constantly stressed)... but one word of advice from me is to keep your cuticles moisturised and to not wear nails varnish all the time as it can damage your nails by making them weak and staining them!

Old- It is vital that you renew your make up regularly as it can go out of date and therefore it can cause breakouts and all sorts of reactions.

Powder- I use a lot of power as I have very greasy/oily skin... I recommend Rimmel London's Stay Matte palette! It's sooo cheap but practically a Mac dupe.

Question- If you are unsure about make up, ask! Ask your friends, Google it or ask professionals at make up counters! It's best to ask if you are unsure, to save the embarrassment of a tango face.

Remove- It is very important to remove your make up completely! If you leave any make up on your face, it can clog up your pores and cause a breakout etc.

Statement- You can focus on one main feature on your face, for example the feature that you think is your best one! E.g. A bold smoky eye, with a nude lip/ vice versa!

Time- Take time doing your make up, or perfect the time you do your make up in! For an everyday make up look, it's best to master it in 5-10 mins! (I'm yet to perfect this skill.. oops)

Undertone- Make sure you use the correct make up with the undertones that suit your shade of skin.

Volume- Create volume in your lashes by using the correct mascara. I highly recommend the Rimmel London Wonder-ful mascara, with argan oil.

Waterline- A great smoky eye needs to have a defined waterline, add a bit of eye liner on your waterline to make your eyes appear bigger.

YouTube- YouTube is a great place to look for advice! I spend hours on YouTube watching tons of make up tutorials... I have learnt everything I know from it! I recommend you watch: pixiwoo Tanya Burr zoella

- Sleep! Getting enough 'beauty sleep' is the best make up for you! It allows your face to have a break from make up and also reduces the dark circles/bags under your eyes, therefore this means you don't have to wear as much make up!

My 2014 Christmas Wish list!

I know for a fact that I probably won't get some of these things but... a girl can dream!
These are just a few things on my Christmas wish list this year:

1: I have wanted an Urban Decay Naked Palette for sooo long now but they are just too expensive for me! I hope that one day I can buy one with my wages... but  until then, I'll stick with the dupes (MUA Undressed Palette)!

2: Zoella Beauty ... I have the 'Let's Glow' candle already and ... Oh My God... It smells like actual heaven! It smells very musky with hints of a sweet vanilla/floral undertone! Great scent for a late Sunday night, candle lit bubble bath!

3: 'Girl Online' by Zoe Sugg (Zoella)... I am not a big reader but I can already tell that I am going to love this book! The fact that some parts are inspired by her own life, will help me relate to it and understand it better! I am soooo proud of Zoe for how far she has come... so seeing these amazing products of hers, makes my heart burst!

4: Real Techniques: Limited Edition Nic's Picks ... I am slowly building up my Real Techniques make up brush collection and these brushes would be a great addition! They are by far the best brushes I have ever used! They are so soft and great for blending! I already have the; Expert face brush, Powder brush, Stippling brush, Shading brush, Blush brush and I use these everyday! This limited edition wouldn't go a miss.

Check out my previous Real Techniques blog post:

As you can probably tell, my Christmas wish list is very YouTuber related this year! These people are a massive inspiration to me and I want to support them as much as possible! Check out their YouTube channels: Zoella (Zoe Sugg)

DIY: Newspaper Wreath

As it is the time of the year when you might start to decorate your homes for Christmas, I thought that I would do a quick and cheap DIY, with things that you will find lying around your house! This DIY wreath will take you up to 20/30 mins (inc. drying time) depending on how much you want to add to it and personalise it.

You will need:

  • A paper plate
  • Some newspaper/paper/card
  • Approximately 6 inches of ribbon
  • Scissors
  • A paintbrush
  • PVA glue... or super glue, Any will be fine

STEP 1: Using scissors, cut out the centre of the paper plate.
STEP 2: Cut strips of newspapers/any paper or card about an inch wide and 4 inches in length... depending on the size you want your wreath.
STEP 3: Curl the newspaper up into small cones
STEP 4: Using the paintbrush and PVA glue, stick the cone together so that it doesn't unravel.

STEP 5: Stick each cone onto the paper plate using the PVA glue.
STEP 6: Carry on all the way around the plate, until you have something like this. You can add several layers of cones and build it up as much as possible, but I wanted to keep mine simple. At this point, you can also add any additional decorations such as; glitter, baubles or sequins.
STEP 7: Once you've added all your newspaper and decorations, loop the ribbon and stick it onto the back of the wreath, so that you are able to hang it up.

And that's it! 7 quick, easy steps on how to make a paper wreath! Also a great craft for kids!

Empties: Skin care

I thought I would do a blog post about some beauty/skincare products that I have been loving soooo much that I've practically emptied out the whole container.

The first one I have loved is my Olay Essentials refreshing face wash, for normal/dry/combo skin. It's the best daily face wash that I have used, and also extremely affordable! I would say, this past year I have gotten through at least 6 bottles of this stuff. You only need small amounts, and that small amount goes a long way! I like to use it after I have removed my make up, as it can get rid of the extra traces that are left on your face. I use it morning and evening to lift dirt and refresh my face! I couldn't recommend this product any more then I already have.... It's definitely a must have in your skin care routine.

The second thing is the Soap and Glory: The Fab Pore face mask/peel. This is a face mask that you can use on a daily basis. You can leave it on for 3 minutes for a daily cleanse or 5 minutes for a deep cleanse. It has ex-foliating beads in the mask, which smooth and get the dirt out of your pores. The salicylic and lactic acids in the mask, help to fight spots and carefully peel away pore-clogging skin cells.  I have had this since May and I have used it on and off throughout the months, especially when I am having a breakout or I just want to pamper myself.

The last empty is a more high end brand, which is the Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream lip protectant stick. I am OBSESSED with this product! I love the fact that it is a lip balm but in the style and shape of a lip stick! It makes it easier to apply and is also more hygienic because you do not have to use your finger to apply it! It also has an SPF 15 which is a bonus! It is also a great primer for your lips before you put on any lipstick. The only downside is the price... it's £20 for the stick ... to some people it's not that expensive, but to me £20 for a lip balm essentially overpriced... but this is worth the money! It leaves my lips feeling as soft as silk! It's a necessity to have lip balm on your lips this time of year, as the cold air can cause your lips to crack and become chapped... so having this in your bag is a God send.

What have you been loving recently? Have you completely used any products that you would recommend? ... If so, comment below so I can try out some new things! :)
