My First ever Giveaway/Review with Scarlet Olive! * (Finished)

I was lucky enough to be contacted by a French jewellery company called Scarlet Olive https://www.scarletolive.com/ a few weeks ago, asking if I would review one of their new necklaces. This is the first ever company to contact me so I jumped at the chance, and I am so glad I did because I can't thank Scarlet Olive enough for the amazing products and great communication. As soon as the parcel arrived, I opened the box and I couldn't believe my eyes! They are the most well made pieces of statement jewellery I have ever seen and so bold and eye catching!

Not only did I get to have a stunning necklace to review but I was also lucky enough to win their giveaway, in which I won this amazing handmade piece of statement jewellery, which can be found here on their website >>> https://www.scarletolive.com/product/bloody-mary/

I decided to pair this piece of statement jewellery with a black, strappy cami top from New Look, and a pair of skinny jeans from H&M. This red necklace added a pop of colour to my outfit and really made me stand out from the crowd! The deep red Swarovski crystals and the gold chain catches the light as you move around, making it look even more glamorous. I would definitely recommend this piece of jewellery if you are after a unique statement necklace!

 Now onto the second necklace...:
What can I say... this is equally an amazing, bold necklace that isn't for the faint hearted! I love the colours that have been used on this necklace and the little intricate details. I'm not sure if this necklace is being sold yet, but I am guessing that it will be around £80-£120 range, judging by existing necklaces.

The only negative thing I will say about this necklace is, personally I think the flowers are a bit too much, but that is just my personal opinion. Other than that, I love this necklace and I think it would make any boring outfit look great! It's most certainly sparkly, I don't think you can argue with me there haha!

I decided to pair this necklace with a plain, cream blouse and skinny jeans. This made my outfit go from casual to casual/dressy just by adding this piece of jewellery. I think this proves that a necklace (especially this one) can make an outfit look 100x better! When I first saw these necklaces I thought that they were going to be extremely heavy, but surprisingly they aren't unbearably heavy to wear, and sit on your chest and around your neck comfortably.

Scarlet Olive have also kindly given me the permission to hold my first ever giveaway with one of the blue floral necklaces!

  • This giveaway is unfortunately for UK residents only, but hopefully if this giveaway is successful, I can begin to do some internationally!
  • All you have to do is enter below!
  • The winner has 48 hours to claim their prize or it'll be drawn again until someone claims the prize! I will be contacting the winner via email so please make sure you enter with the one you check regularly!

Good Luck!

*Thank you to Scarlet Olive for proving the necklace for the Giveaway and for me to review. Also thank you for the great communication! All views are my own however the products have been provided by a company*

A-Z on Make Up Tips

- It is important to not apply too much product on to your skin as it can look 'cakey' and also build up in the creases in your face.

Blend- In order for your make up to look flawless, it is important to blend, this way the foundation will be worked into your skin, rather than sitting on the top of it. You also need to blend your eyeshadow and powders, to create a more gradient look, rather then a patchy look.

Contour- Contouring allows you to shape your face better and also make your face look skinnier if you want to.

Define/detail- You need to take care of every detail to make your make up look flawless. Make sure you're using the right shade of make up/ the right brushes etc.

Eyes- Your eyes are going to be the first thing that people look at, so make sure you extenuate your glistening eyes. Wear the right shade to bring out the colour in your eyes.

Foundation- Don't overdo the foundation.. it can literally look like you've shoved your face in paint! Also ensure that you are wearing the correct shade for your skin... ask someone on a make up counter if you are unsure, or swatch it before you buy it.

Groom- Groom and maintain your eyebrows... they are sooo important because they frame your face, so do not forget about them!

Highlight- Use highlight at the top of your cheekbones to extenuate them when they catch the light.

Individuality- Be unique, experiment, don't follow the crowd! You can do what you want with your make up, it's supposed to be fun not a chore. Or just don't wear make up at all if you feel like you don't 'need' it.

Jewellery- You can also wear jewellery to compliment your make up.

Keep- Maintain your make up throughout the day... carry the 'essentials' around with you, e.g. lip balm, mascara, oil blotting sheets & powder.

Lips- Use lip scrubs and lip balm to stop chapped lips and to keep them hydrated.

Money- Don't feel the need to spend ridiculous amounts of money on make up, just because it is a 'high-end' brand. You can get great high-end 'dupes' in the shops for less then half the price, e.g. Urban Decay Naked Palettes < MUA Undressed Palette.

Nails- I'm not one to speak about nails as I am unfortunately a nail biter and I can't seem to stop! I have tried everything, but I think it's passed down onto me as both of my parents bite their nails, it is also because of stress (I am constantly stressed)... but one word of advice from me is to keep your cuticles moisturised and to not wear nails varnish all the time as it can damage your nails by making them weak and staining them!

Old- It is vital that you renew your make up regularly as it can go out of date and therefore it can cause breakouts and all sorts of reactions.

Powder- I use a lot of power as I have very greasy/oily skin... I recommend Rimmel London's Stay Matte palette! It's sooo cheap but practically a Mac dupe.

Question- If you are unsure about make up, ask! Ask your friends, Google it or ask professionals at make up counters! It's best to ask if you are unsure, to save the embarrassment of a tango face.

Remove- It is very important to remove your make up completely! If you leave any make up on your face, it can clog up your pores and cause a breakout etc.

Statement- You can focus on one main feature on your face, for example the feature that you think is your best one! E.g. A bold smoky eye, with a nude lip/ vice versa!

Time- Take time doing your make up, or perfect the time you do your make up in! For an everyday make up look, it's best to master it in 5-10 mins! (I'm yet to perfect this skill.. oops)

Undertone- Make sure you use the correct make up with the undertones that suit your shade of skin.

Volume- Create volume in your lashes by using the correct mascara. I highly recommend the Rimmel London Wonder-ful mascara, with argan oil.

Waterline- A great smoky eye needs to have a defined waterline, add a bit of eye liner on your waterline to make your eyes appear bigger.

YouTube- YouTube is a great place to look for advice! I spend hours on YouTube watching tons of make up tutorials... I have learnt everything I know from it! I recommend you watch: pixiwoo Tanya Burr zoella

- Sleep! Getting enough 'beauty sleep' is the best make up for you! It allows your face to have a break from make up and also reduces the dark circles/bags under your eyes, therefore this means you don't have to wear as much make up!

My 2014 Christmas Wish list!

I know for a fact that I probably won't get some of these things but... a girl can dream!
These are just a few things on my Christmas wish list this year:

1: I have wanted an Urban Decay Naked Palette for sooo long now but they are just too expensive for me! I hope that one day I can buy one with my wages... but  until then, I'll stick with the dupes (MUA Undressed Palette)!

2: Zoella Beauty ... I have the 'Let's Glow' candle already and ... Oh My God... It smells like actual heaven! It smells very musky with hints of a sweet vanilla/floral undertone! Great scent for a late Sunday night, candle lit bubble bath!

3: 'Girl Online' by Zoe Sugg (Zoella)... I am not a big reader but I can already tell that I am going to love this book! The fact that some parts are inspired by her own life, will help me relate to it and understand it better! I am soooo proud of Zoe for how far she has come... so seeing these amazing products of hers, makes my heart burst!

4: Real Techniques: Limited Edition Nic's Picks ... I am slowly building up my Real Techniques make up brush collection and these brushes would be a great addition! They are by far the best brushes I have ever used! They are so soft and great for blending! I already have the; Expert face brush, Powder brush, Stippling brush, Shading brush, Blush brush and I use these everyday! This limited edition wouldn't go a miss.

Check out my previous Real Techniques blog post:

As you can probably tell, my Christmas wish list is very YouTuber related this year! These people are a massive inspiration to me and I want to support them as much as possible! Check out their YouTube channels: Zoella (Zoe Sugg)

DIY: Newspaper Wreath

As it is the time of the year when you might start to decorate your homes for Christmas, I thought that I would do a quick and cheap DIY, with things that you will find lying around your house! This DIY wreath will take you up to 20/30 mins (inc. drying time) depending on how much you want to add to it and personalise it.

You will need:

  • A paper plate
  • Some newspaper/paper/card
  • Approximately 6 inches of ribbon
  • Scissors
  • A paintbrush
  • PVA glue... or super glue, Any will be fine

STEP 1: Using scissors, cut out the centre of the paper plate.
STEP 2: Cut strips of newspapers/any paper or card about an inch wide and 4 inches in length... depending on the size you want your wreath.
STEP 3: Curl the newspaper up into small cones
STEP 4: Using the paintbrush and PVA glue, stick the cone together so that it doesn't unravel.

STEP 5: Stick each cone onto the paper plate using the PVA glue.
STEP 6: Carry on all the way around the plate, until you have something like this. You can add several layers of cones and build it up as much as possible, but I wanted to keep mine simple. At this point, you can also add any additional decorations such as; glitter, baubles or sequins.
STEP 7: Once you've added all your newspaper and decorations, loop the ribbon and stick it onto the back of the wreath, so that you are able to hang it up.

And that's it! 7 quick, easy steps on how to make a paper wreath! Also a great craft for kids!

Empties: Skin care

I thought I would do a blog post about some beauty/skincare products that I have been loving soooo much that I've practically emptied out the whole container.

The first one I have loved is my Olay Essentials refreshing face wash, for normal/dry/combo skin. It's the best daily face wash that I have used, and also extremely affordable! I would say, this past year I have gotten through at least 6 bottles of this stuff. You only need small amounts, and that small amount goes a long way! I like to use it after I have removed my make up, as it can get rid of the extra traces that are left on your face. I use it morning and evening to lift dirt and refresh my face! I couldn't recommend this product any more then I already have.... It's definitely a must have in your skin care routine.

The second thing is the Soap and Glory: The Fab Pore face mask/peel. This is a face mask that you can use on a daily basis. You can leave it on for 3 minutes for a daily cleanse or 5 minutes for a deep cleanse. It has ex-foliating beads in the mask, which smooth and get the dirt out of your pores. The salicylic and lactic acids in the mask, help to fight spots and carefully peel away pore-clogging skin cells.  I have had this since May and I have used it on and off throughout the months, especially when I am having a breakout or I just want to pamper myself.

The last empty is a more high end brand, which is the Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream lip protectant stick. I am OBSESSED with this product! I love the fact that it is a lip balm but in the style and shape of a lip stick! It makes it easier to apply and is also more hygienic because you do not have to use your finger to apply it! It also has an SPF 15 which is a bonus! It is also a great primer for your lips before you put on any lipstick. The only downside is the price... it's £20 for the stick ... to some people it's not that expensive, but to me £20 for a lip balm essentially overpriced... but this is worth the money! It leaves my lips feeling as soft as silk! It's a necessity to have lip balm on your lips this time of year, as the cold air can cause your lips to crack and become chapped... so having this in your bag is a God send.

What have you been loving recently? Have you completely used any products that you would recommend? ... If so, comment below so I can try out some new things! :)

The Pointless Book: Review

Last week I finally bought The Pointless Book and all I can say is that it is fricking amazing and I am so proud of Alfie!
If you have no idea what I am on about, then this video should explain it :)
The author of this book is the YouTuber Alfie Deyes, who currently has 2,998,198+ subscribers on his main channel! Over the past 5 years he has built up his audience and created a brand image for himself, that obviously many people all over the world (including me) love!
I watch him and his friends religiously (I have no life :'D) and I can't express how proud I am of all of them because of the things they have all achieved this past year... but seeing Alfie's books in shops and on my bedside cabinet fills me with joy and pride! It reminds me how far he has come over the years and I instantly think of when I used to watch him when he hadn't even reached 100,000 subscribers, and it scares me to think how quick our lives change and develop.

I have no words for this book! It is soooo unique and 'Pointless'! The little activities occupied me for a good few hours, and I still have many more to do! Not forgetting his official Pointless Book app which syncs with the book and has exclusive videos of Alfie and his friends completing the pages, which makes this book truly unique!
I really don't know what else to say, other than, GO BUY THIS BOOK!!!!!
The links below are links to websites/shops where you can buy the book, as well as all of Alfie's social media's and mine :)

EXAM STRESS: Tips to relax and relieve stress!

As it is the time of year when you have a million exams and coursework hand ins, you are most likely going to become increasingly stressed. Being stressed is a natural thing and no one should worry or feel like they are not normal if they get stressed.

However, it is when stress is taking over your life and stopping you from doing things you love the most, when you need to take a step back and think about things. When I was doing my GCSEs this time last year, the main thoughts I had in my head were;
"What will happen if I don't pass?!" "I will completely screw my life up" "How am I going to find the time to revise for 14 serious exams?!"

All of these horrible thoughts were going through my mind! When in reality, I was making myself more stressed because I was worrying non-stop!
One key tip that I think is vital to becoming less stressed or not stressed at all is; "If you do the work you are stressing about, then you will become less stressed." Also; "Use the time when your stressing to actually do the work you are stressing about!" You can argue that this is easier said then done... but to me, that saying is just an excuse. Everything is going to be hard work before you actually do it... the only thing that is holding you back from doing anything is psychological thoughts like ... "What if!?..."

You need to train your brain into banishing these psychological thoughts and helping yourself overcome these barriers and stress.
It is also vital to take time out of work and revision and give yourself a break. If you are constantly doing revision, then you're not going to benefit from it at all. You need to give your mind a rest in order for it to maintain the knowledge and facts you need for your exams. It's like your mind is in a marathon, if you do not have a little rest from running, then you are going to just get out of breath and pass out, that is the exact same for your brain regarding revision. I know that one thought that goes through my mind at all times when I have exams to revise for is... "I should be doing work, not relaxing!" You begin to feel guilty if you are not looking at a text book and relaxing instead... but then you have to think to yourself... "I am only human and when I think I need a rest.. I need a bloody rest!" It's your bodies way of saying... you need a rest!

So follow some of my tips to relax yourself and relieve yourself from stress... think about the exams after.. just clear your mind and relax :)

My tips to relax and relieve stress:
  • Have a bubble bath with candles and soft, quiet music... maybe even pamper yourself with a face mask!
  • Relaxed breathing: when you begin to feel stressed, your chest will start to feel tight and it will feel like you can't breathe at all. This could be signs of a panic attack, so you need to treat these signs immediately in order to reduce the risk of a panic attack! It is really simple, JUST BREATHE! Get comfortable, sit up, close your eye and breathe deeply in and out at a slow and steady pace. Concentrate on your breathing.
  • Be active: If you are feeling stressed exercise can help. You don't have to do a marathon, just simply go for a nice slow walk outside... clear your mind and just walk. You'll be surprised how much this actually helps!
  • Self empower: Take control of your thinking! Do not let your passive thinking take over your life... Think less of "I can't do it" and think more of "I can do it, it may take some effort but I can!"
  • Share your problems: Talking to people helps. Literally talk to anyone you feel comfortable with... unload your problems.... a problem shared is a problem solved.
  • Eat healthily: A happy healthy mind will do some happy thinking!
  • Lastly, BE POSITIVE! Just smile and soon enough you will see the light at the end of the tunnel!
I really hope this has helped in any way! Stress is a horrible thing, which everyone experiences, so you are not alone and there is always light at the end of the tunnel! KEEP SMILING, BE HAPPY AND LIVE THE ADVENTURE OF LIFE!
:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Spring Must Haves 2014

It is finally spring and all of the new clothes and make up are coming out! I have just had a major spring clean and I am ready to spend some money on new clothes and definitely make up... here are some of my spring must haves!

1: A pastel coloured satchel! I saw one in H&M a couple of months ago, but I'm not sure if they do it any more, so I am going to have to look around for some alternatives. I really want to get a mint green/duck egg coloured satchel just for my everyday belongings.

2: BB cream! As the weather starts to get hotter, you don't really want to be wearing a lot of make up as you'll just sweat it all off *yuck* ... so the best make up to wear is either a light covering foundation, or even better a BB cream. My favourite is Rimmel London (surprise surprise) Matte BB Cream in the shade light. This gives a great coverage but it's not too heavy. It is great for the 'no make up, make up look'.

3: Pink/Coral Lip gloss! I love Tanya Burr and now I love her even more as she has bought out her own lip gloss and nail varnish line. I still haven't purchased one of her products yet, but I am hoping to very soon The 'Chic' shade and 'Picnic in the park' are great shades for a more subtle day to day look!

4: Bright coral pink or pastel nail varnish! Annoyingly I bite my nails and I've found it hard to stop so whenever I wear fake nails, I always like to paint them nice! A great colour for the spring could be the 'Bright and Early' shade in Tanya Burr's collection.

5: Muscle/graphic tees and tank tops! You can never go wrong with muscle tees and tank tops... they are a must have for spring/summer. They look great for concerts and festivals and they can look nice layered up. I am very tempted to buy a 5SOS tank top! https://store.universalmusic.com/5sos/*/Clothing/

My YouTube Channel

I've been meaning to make a YouTube channel for ages, but I've never been able to pluck up the courage to make one. I'm not a very confident person and I'm also very shy (until you get to know me) so this has prevented me to make a channel. My uploads probably won't be weekly as I am still at school so I get a ridiculous amount of work to do, so I barley have any free time however, I am going to do my best!

I will upload videos at first that run alongside this blog, and then when I eventually get a better camera etc. I will upload 'better' videos! I thought I would give this a try...if it fails well, I guess I will just carry on blogging haha I hope it doesn't completely fail on me though as this is what I want to do as a career in the near future haha!

Here is my first little video... 'March Favourites'
Read the description box for more information on the video/my channel!

I am going to upload beauty/lifestyle videos similar to this blog... and maybe even start vlogging/follow me around vlogs eventually!!!

Please check it out, like, comment, subscribe, share... do what ever you can on it haha! I can't express how much it would mean to me :)
My blog and now my YouTube channel are going to help me in the near future when I start to apply for jobs/apprenticeships in magazine/media communication companies... so I need to start building up my social medias and audience now... and you could help me do that!

Thank you :) xxx

My Skin Care Routine || What I use!

To keep my skin looking 'decent', I have to use several products to clean and exfoliate my face!

Recently I have had a break out of spots and I thought that this would be the best excuse to go and buy some new skin care products, especially because the weather is getting nicer and I want to be able to out less make up on.

As I am in sixth form I am allowed to wear make up, this means I wear make up pretty much every single day... including weekends (If I am going out)! Wearing all of this make up has damaged my skin, therefore this means I have resulted in dry/combination skin and a few spots and blemishes here and there!

As soon as I get home from sixth form, I take my make up off straight away using make up wipes... which I know are not the best things to get make up off with but they are the easiest thing to use!
I use 'cheap' supermarket own brand make up wipes, this is because they are cheap and they do just as good as the pricey ones!

At the moment I am using the Tesco own brand ones which have cucumber extract and vitamin E in them! They are for all skin types and I usually use up to 2 every day to get my make up off.

These make up wipes obviously don't clean your face completely, so I use the Superdrug exfoliating daily face wash. This is your usual face wash but with some exfoliating beads, to scrub off all of the dead skin off your face, leaving it baby soft and smooth.

Even after I have used this, I still have some dirt/make up on my face. I also suffer with a lot of black heads on my nose, and what ever I do, they never come out completely. To reduce them to a certain extent, I use the Superdrug Deep Action Pore Strips. http://www.superdrug.com/superdrug-deep-action-skincare-range/superdrug-deep-action-pore-cleansing-nose-strips/invt/718470&bklist=

I then use Simple Pore Minimising Toning cleanser, to get the extra dirt off my face. I apply this with Superdrug cotton wool pads, in a circular motion.

Finally, if I have any spots or blemishes, I use the Superdrug Spot Stick, which is a Tea Tree gel and it cools the areas down and reduces the bacteria to fight the spots and blemishes. This does sting on your face a bit but that soon goes after a minute. I has definitely reduced my spots!

If I am applying make up and I want to prime and moisturise the skin I use a small amount of the Dove Essential Nourishing lotion. http://www.boots.com/en/Dove-Essential-Nourishing-Lotion-Dry-Skin-400ml_1329567/

Lastly, every now and again I treat myself to a face mask... there is nothing better then relaxing in a hot bubble bath, with a few candles and a face mask on.
The face masks that I use are also from Superdrug and I use these because they are cheap and suitable for sensitive skin like mine! http://www.superdrug.com/superdrug/dead-sea-purifying-clay-mask/invt/440350

That is my complete skin routine that I do every day, to keep my skin looking decent and fresh!
I recommend all of these products as they are suitable for all kinds of skin... they are cheap and do a bloody good job!
(I would just like to point out, that I haven't been sponsored by Superdrug... I just love their products.... So go and buy them, and give yourself a good pamper! You deserve it :D ) xxx
